Trommel Features

Caterpillar Engines

At McCloskey, we understand that trommel screens require power and support. It's about no compromise.

No compromise means that a McCloskey trommel will always be the most powerful machine in its class, with a power-plant suitable for the most difficult operation the trommel might face.

No compromise means that, with a Caterpillar engine, you know you have the highest quality power-plant available and, most importantly, you know you have the backing and support of your local Caterpillar service centers.

Remote Control

Safety and loader efficiency are always foremost in the mind of McCloskey engineers. Our trommel remote control system allows the loader operator to control the height and angle of the radial stacker, the tipping action of the grizzly and the motion of the tracks. This makes a screening job a one man operation when using a McCloskey trommel.

The trommel remote control package also now includes a remote controlled emergency stop to help keep your operators safe.

Drum X-Change System

Every McCloskey trommel from a 407 to a 628 features the McCloskey Drum X-Change System.

This allows operators to simply lift out a drum and replace it with a new one of a different screen size in a matter of minutes. The operation requires only two personnel, the loosening of one bolt and a loader or excavator.

Read our testamonials to find out how existing McCloskey customers use this feature to screen many different products at different sizes in one day.

Drum Drive System

McCloskey pioneered the use of rubber wheel drive systems in trommels and, with more experience than anybody else, we have the concept perfected.

All McCloskey trommels, from the 407 to the 628, have a four wheel drive system with independent hydraulic motors powered from a dedicated pump. With high torque motors and solid vulcanized rubber drive wheels weighing up to 110 lbs at each corner of the drum, you will never be short of drum power

McCloskey Radial Stacking Conveyor

Invented and patented by Paschal McCloskey, the McCloskey Radial Stacker adjusts up and down and through a 180 degree arc using a remote control.

This simple solution ensures that you have the ability to feed trucks and auxiliary equipment, or simply put up a massive stockpile of up to 1500 cubic yards, without ever moving your machine. This allows your loading equipment to spend more time loading and less time servicing stockpiles and moving your screening plant.

As holder of current US patents 6,910,586 and 5,819,950 for trommel mounted radial conveyors, we are proud to provide innovation, not imitation.

End Conveyor

From the 516 and upwards, all McCloskey trommels feature a heavy rear mounted conveyor designed to stockpile your oversize material.

McCloskey end conveyors feature a flow control system to allow the operator to set the perfect speed for the material present. Our high torque motors ensure that you can run the belt slowly without having to worry about stalling, eliminating problems with bouncing rock.

The belts are heavy duty multi-ply with a deep chevron pattern for lifting material with minimum rollback, and our unique chevron belt cleaning system ensures that little material is conveyed back into the machine.

Drum Cleaning Brushes

McCloskey trommels are designed to be the premier screening solution for material that has the potential to hold a high moisture content; such as topsoil, compost and waste. Our 20 years of experience has taught us that drum cleaning brushes are a simple, yet vital, component for a trommel screening plant.

As such, McCloskey drum cleaning brushes are made up of the stiffest brushes in the industry with 1/8" thick bristles. This, combined with the highest bristle count, ensures that the screen remains clear under very difficult operations to keep production rates high.

Our brushes are individually adjustable to each cloth face and now feature ground level adjustment.

Engine Control Panel

McCloskey trommels feature an electronic engine control panel with instantly readable gauges, digital rev / hour counter and hand operated throttle control.

This control features engine monitoring systems and will shut down the trommel's engine in the event of overheating or low oil pressure, protecting your investment.
